• Hydrogen/Fuel Cell Codes and Standards

This site is dedicated to assist the worldwide community working to develop and interpret fuel cell codes and standards. To that end, this site will maintain, on a real-time basis:

• The status of all fuel cell code and standard activities.
• Calendar of meetings and other significant dates.
• Services related to the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Industries.
• Bulletin board for posting questions and answers of mutual interest.

• DOE / NREL Hydrogen Fueling Station Codes and Standards Website
  

The DOE/NREL Hydrogen Fueling Station Codes and Standards Website (currently under development) will provide a unique resource for building code, fire marshals, fire safety and other local/state officials involved in the permitting of: (i) hydrogen dispensing equipment in existing vehicular fueling stations that dispense gasoline and diesel fuel; and (ii) new retail multi-fuel fueling stations with hydrogen to be one of the fuels dispensed. The website will be a “one stop” repository /data base relating to hydrogen fueling stations, and includes case studies, technical information regarding fueling station equipment appropriate for permitting officials, etc.

In addition, it is a tool for taking permitting officials step-by-step through all the issues involved in the complete permitting of a fueling station -- including shipping fuel to the station, site-specific issues, fueling station equipment and systems, safety systems ,fueling station operations, and periodic inspections. For each issue involved in permitting (e.g., gaseous hydrogen storage tanks, etc.), the website provides the exact text of the safety requirements in the relevant ICC, NFPA and other documents. Plans call for the website to be available in late FY08.

Hydrogen Codes and Standards Portal provides one-stop access to standards critical to the jobs of building code officials, permitting officials, and fire safety officials. This information can be accessed by browsing the taxonomy below, or by using the search box to the left.
